Soul Train Awards Bans Lip-Syncing
It’s about dang time!
This year’s Soul Train Awards will be “100 percent live — no tracks here,” according to executive producer Bart Phillips. That’s right, ladies and gentlemen, no lip-syncing allowed.
Phillips also told Hollywood Reporter this year’s theme is “We Got Soul” and will spotlight the ’90s.
The annual awards show is taking place this Friday, November 8 in Las Vegas at the Orleans Theater. It will air on BET Sunday, December 1 at 8 p.m. ET.
Comedian-actor Anthony Anderson will host the show, while talk show hostess Wendy Williams will report from the red carpet.
Rapper Kendrick Lamar has the most nominations with six. Singers Chris Brown, Janelle Monae, Miguel and Justin Timberlake were also nominated. Chaka Khan, Gladys Knight, Jennifer Hudson and Tamar Braxton are expected to perform.
We’re excited to see this lip-sync rule in action, how about you? Let us know in the comments!
