SMH, Snoop: Homophobic Slurs Aren’t Cool

Dear Snoop Dogg, Snoop Lion, or whatever you’re going by these days,

Just in case you didn’t realize, anti-gay slurs aren’t cool. Nor are they funny. And they should never be used. Ever!

According to Buzzfeed,  you reportedly used a homophobic slur on Instagram Monday. Even though you’ve since deleted it, the screenshots and the hurtful words live on.

But this isn’t your first foray with questionable comments about homosexuality. Remember when you told Huffington Post the following?

“[Frank Ocean is] a singer. It’s acceptable in the singing world, but in the rap world I don’t know if it will ever be acceptable because rap is so masculine … I don’t have a problem with gay people. I got some gay homies.”

Yo, Snoop. That’s exactly the same as the White people who claim: “I don’t have a problem with Black people. I got some Black homies.”

So you may want to think next time before you tweet. Or, better yet, try to be a bit more open minded.
