Sister 2 Sister Magazine Files Bankruptcy

While it is no secret that the magazine industry is setting its eyes on soaring the digital planes, another staple in entertainment journalism has just filed for bankruptcy.

Celebrating its 25th year of print just last year, Sister 2 Sister magazine, made popularly known by publisher and owner, Jamie Foster Brown, confirmed earlier this week, that the publication will now focus on its online brand and content.

According to Journal-isms, the publication, highly recognized for reporting the scoop on Black Hollywood and “giving it to ya straight, no chaser” is not listed in the latest circulation or advertising figures for the Publisher’s Information Bureau or the Alliance Audited Media – these are considered bibles in the media/publishing industry.

In an official statement, released today, Brown stated, “We are putting it on hiatus while we reorganize to embrace the digital age for our subscribers and advertisers. We remain as dedicated to our mission today as we were 26 years ago.”

In addition to establishing a new direction for their digital platform, Sister 2 Sister will work to produce more branded events, archive its history and continue to unite artists and fans to create a new experience for its consumers.
