It seems like people are still in their feelings about Jesse Williams’ powerful BET speech. While the Grey’s Anatomy star has received tons of praise for speaking up for Black folks and calling out racism and oppression, some people (ehem, Stacey Dash) couldn’t handle it.
Over the weekend, a few change.org petitions popped up calling for Williams to be kicked off the hit ABC show, particularly because he called out the police for “[managing] to de-escalate, disarm and not kill white people every day.”
In response to the anti-Williams petitions, others sprung up calling on Grey’s fans to support the actor. Williams asked his fans to ignore “empty people and their tantrums.”
Do not promote empty people & their tantrums. Pure clickbait to gain followers, attention & money, for themselves, not you. Never you.

And most importantly, Grey’s Anatomy creator Shonda Rhimes let it be known that Williams does not need a petition to save his job–he’s good.
Um, people? Boo don’t need a petition. #shondalandrules

Welp, it’s handled!
