Shemar Moore Lost $60K and a Friendship
Shemar Moore is hurt.
The L.A. Times reports that Keith Tisdell, a guest actor on the CBS crime drama Criminal Minds which starred Moore, stole more than $60 thousand from the actor.
Tisdell was arrested on theft charges, Wednesday.
As part of a plea bargain deal, Tisdell agreed to repay Moore $61,084. Failure to make good on this agreement would result in jail time for the actor.
The two men met and became friends following Tisdell’s two-episode arc on the series, where Moore played FBI Derek Morgan for 11 seasons.
In addition to their budding friendship, Moore brought Tisdell in on his Baby Girl LLC online merchandising store. The organization gives a portion of its proceeds to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, a disease Moore’s mother was diagnosed with in 1999.
In January, Tisdell admitted to grand theft after he was arrested on suspicion of embezzling funds from the organization.
For Moore, the issue that has him upset is the betrayal of friendship.
“I’ve done a lot for him because he had me, my friends fooled. I’m not here for money. I’m here because he betrayed a friendship. This is not OK. You don’t do this to people,” Moore told the judge in court.
Reportedly, Moore’s generous friendship included buying $10,000 rims for Tisdell, in addition to trips overseas and up to $20,000 to help out with other expenses.
Looks like Moore learned true lesson in choosing your “friends” wisely.
