Newcomer Sarah Jeffery first began making a splash in the entertainment industry back in 2015, when she starred in the Disney Channel original movie Descendants, as Princess Audrey.
These days the 20-year old Canadian native is lighting up our television screens as Cristina Santos, the daughter of Jennifer Lopez’s Detective Harlee Santos on the hit NBC drama, Shades of Blue.
On the dark crime series, Jeffrey plays a 17-year old music prodigy whose mother desperately wants to give her a better life, no matter what it costs. Shades of Blue has a very different tone than her Disney Channel roots, but she’s taking it in stride. Jeffrey told The Fashion Week Daily, “It’s nice to have the opportunity as an actress to play those different parts and get to expand my actor vocabulary. Plus, it’s nice to be on a TV show because you get to work exceedingly on following seasons and you get more of a chance to get to know your character.”
Jeffrey also talked about the best advice she’s ever received from her TV mom Lopez, who back in 1997 was the first Latina to make over $1 million dollars for starring in the feature film, Selena. Jefferey said, “I think the best thing that I’ve learned is to give 110 percent to everything I do. She has so much going on, but she’s still so professional, and she’s so good at everything she does! It inspires me to do the same.”
With her 21st birthday swiftly approaching, the Wayward Pines alum is trying to solidify her bday plans with her older sister. Also, when she’s not on set; she’s performing on stage with her semi-professional dance crew, Body.
Shades of Blue airs Sundays at 10 PM on NBC, and it’s just been renewed for a third season.
