Scene Stealers: Damon Wayans, Lee Daniels, & More!
The action is on as Damon Wayans heads back to the small screen in the TV version of Lethal Weapon. The series was recently picked up by Fox and released its trailer Monday night.
Adapted from the popular film franchise, which starred Danny Glover and Mel Gibson, the series adds a modern twist to the suspense, crime, and drama. Wayans takes on the role of Roger Murtaugh, a married father and LAPD Detective. Actor Clayne Crawford plays Martin Riggs, a Texas Cop and former Navy SEAL whose wild antics leave some questioning his stability.
In the series, Murtaugh and Riggs are brought together by life-altering situations. Riggs suffered a tragic loss when his wife and unborn baby were killed in a car accident, and Murtaugh is forced to lead a stress free life after suffering from a heart attack.
Though situations are heavy, with Damon Wayans in the picture, you know comedic moments are sure to come.

Damon isn’t the only Wayans hitting your TV screen soon. His baby brother Marlon’s sitcom, Marlon, was recently picked up by NBC. The series borrows a bit from the actor/comedian’s real life and centers on a loving, but immature, father committed to co-parenting his two kids with his ex-wife. Marlon also reunites Wayans and Essence Atkins!
It will surely be fun to watch both Damon and Marlon bring that Wayans’ magic to the small screen!
Lee Daniels is back at it again
Keeping his “empire” rolling, Lee Daniels’ much talked about new series, STAR dropped its first trailer and gave viewers a look inside the hopes and dreams of three talented singers working to turn lemons into lemonade (yep, pun intended!).
Starring Queen Latifah, Lenny Kravitz and newcomer Jude Demorest, who plays Star, a tough-as-nails young woman who came up in the foster care system and decides one day to take control of her destiny. She tracks down her sister, Simone (Brittany O’Grady), and her Instagram bestie, Alexandra (Ryan Destiny), and together, the trio journeys to Atlanta to take over the music biz.
Watch a glimpse of their journey below.
Adding more heat to their line-up, Fox also unleashed a trailer for a new drama series called Pitch.
The drama follows the fictional story of Ginny Baker (Kylie Bunbury), the first woman to play in Major League Baseball. Because of her position, Ginny quickly becomes exposed to the fame and the pressure of being the first and only woman to play professional baseball, and even faces scrutiny from her own teammates.
While the show may actually mirror reality one day (hello Mo’Ne Davis), this new series definitely poses the question of whether women are capable of integrating male-dominated sports.

With so many shows on the way, what will you be watching?
