Ryan Coogler + More Host #JusticeForFlint Event
Celebrities are stepping up to the plate and using their platforms to further bring awareness to the ills that have affected Flint, Michigan.
Taking place at the Whiting Auditorium Sunday, February 28, Ryan Coogler, Ava DuVernay, Jesse Williams and a long list of others have organized the #JusticeForFlint free event with intentions to “give voice to the members of the community who were victims of the choices of people who are paid to protect them,” Coogler said in a statement to BuzzFeed News.
Flint has been facing a disastrous water crisis which has led to massive illness due to contaminated water.
Similar to the impactful #MLKNow program, headed by Coogler and his BlackOut United organization to honor Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, the event will be one of unity, entertainment and another opportunity to provide emotional healing.
Comedian Hannibal Burress will host the evening.
And don’t worry, if you’re not in the area but interested in supporting, a live stream of the event will be available on Revolt.TV
A major salute to everyone making efforts to better such a tragic situation.
