After less than a year, Rosie Perez is leaving The View so that she can shift her acting career into high gear.
Bill Wolff, an executive producer for the ABC daytime talk show, first made the announcement.
In a statement, Wolff said, “Our friend Rosie Perez has decided to leave the show at the conclusion of this season to pursue full time her love for acting. Stepping into the role of talk show host at the same time she has been starring on Broadway has been incredibly impressive.”
Perez, 50, confirmed her departure during Wednesday’s taping. She thanked a host of staff and fans and stated, “It’s time to go…I do not have one regret for coming to this show.”
The White Men Can’t Jump actress will finish out the current season, which ends this summer. Wolff also noted that she would be given a proper farewell and that she can return as a guest at anytime.
No word yet on who will be joining Whoopi Goldberg, Raven-Symone and Nicolle Wallace in the fall.
