The Roots Will Bring Two Children’s Shows to Amazon

Aside from being one of the best hip-hop groups and the house band for The Tonight Show starring Jimmy Fallon,’ the legendary Roots crew are continuing to add to their amazing repertoire.

The Roots are collaborating with Amazon to bring two shows to the streaming service–one will be animated and the other will be live action.

The group’s production company, Passyunk Productions, will produce the animated series, South Street Sounds. It will follow three friends, Zora, Nick and Tyson, who “pride themselves on playing gigs for any occasion” with their band, “South Street,” which was formed in “the most musical neighborhoods.”

No details are available about the premise of the live action show.

“As we venture into the world that is film and television production, we couldn’t think of a better partner than Amazon to help us develop these first two children’s projects,” said Roots drummer, Questlove.

Black Thought echoed those same sentiments, saying, “Our love for music started as young kids, and we hope to inspire a generation of future artists, musicians and music fans through the stories we tell and the music they hear on these shows,” said Black Thought.

We can’t for “South Street Sounds” to premiere!
