‘Real Housewives of Atlanta’ Recap
Nothing like a few tears, a fabulous drag queen and an airborne cockroach to bring everyone together.
On this week’s episode of Real Housewives of Atlanta, we catch up with the ladies during the girls-only trip to Savannah. The plan is to stay in, cook dinner and, well, bond. But things don’t go exactly according to plan.
To Date or Not to Date?
When it comes to parenting, it’s safe to say NeNe and Cynthia have different styles. While Cynthia thinks it’s okay for her teenage daughter to have a little boyfriend, NeNe absolutely does not. “Girls that are too sheltered are the first to get turned out,” says Cynthia an, having attended an all-girls Catholic high school, I agree. Things get a bit out of hand, however, when NeNe starts throwing out generalizations about girls twerking at the mall and Cynthia starts crying. Yup, definitely touched a raw nerve there.
Interestingly, Kenya and Porsha rush to Cynthia’s side to console her. Kenya and Porsha later bond over not being moms, even though they badly want to be. Kenya opens up to Porsha about her mommy issues and they share a moment that’s actually pretty touching. Lesson learned here: everyone is going through something. You don’t know the baggage someone carries.
Drag Queens Cure All
In an effort to boost everyone’s moods after finding Porsha crying, NeNe switches up the evening’s plans and takes the ladies to a drag queen show. Side note: if you’ve never been to one of these events, you’re missing out! It’s a guaranteed good time!
NeNe gets a few drinks in her system and makes nice with Lady Chablis aka one of Savannah’s original drag queens who was featured in the crime novel Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil.
After everyone returns home, we learned that Porsha took NeNe’s advice and reached out to her estranged husband, Kordell. Of course, because Porsha is “30 going on 15,” according to NeNe, she texted Kordell and failed to respond when he replied asking her what she wanted to discuss. Kandi took Porsha’s phone and replied “Us.” So I guess we’ll have to wait until next week to see what he says.
Kandi also asks everyone to get involved in her musical, which is loosely based on the story of her life. I wonder who will play Momma Joyce…
Roachbusters to the Rescue!
During dinner, an unexpected guest (in the form of a flying cockroach, no less!) arrived and disrupted everyone. Never fear, newly formed dynamic duo Porsha and Kenya tag teamed the insect and got rid of it for good. Whew, that was a close one!
Afterward, NeNe gives Porsha a big ol’ “F” in the friendship department for pretty much neglecting everyone while she’s going through her divorce. Everyone hugs it out in the end and it seems as though the ladies have come to peace with one another…for now.
Next week: Looks like there’s trouble in paradise for Cynthia and Peter. Meanwhile, an old lover may spill the beans about Phaedra. What did you think of this week’s episode? Let us know in the comments!
