Oh Yeah: ‘Queen Sugar’ Has a Premiere Date!
If you tuned in to OWN’s Greenleaf last week, then you were able to get a sneak peek of the intense Ava DuVernay -produced “Queen Sugar.” The brief trailer had jaws dropping to the floor and viewers ready for more.
There’s good news, JET fam, “more” is coming soon!
OWN announced that the original one-hour drama series will debut with a two-night premiere on September 6 and September 7. Following the debut, Queen Sugar settles into its Wednesday night slot at 10pm ET.
If that isn’t enough dopeness for you, we’ve got more hot news coming your way. The first season, which includes 13 episodes, are all directed by women!
In case you missed the story’s plot: The drama is set in the heart of Louisiana and begins as Charley, a savvy, spirited woman living a luxurious lifestyle in Los Angeles, returns to her family home after learning that her father had a stroke. Coming home means Charley is reunited with her estranged siblings and confronted by the past. Together, the family must learn to set aside their conflicts and work together as they inherit the family farm and attempt to rebuild the land and their relationships.
