Stars Held Touching Memorial Service for Prince
When Prince died three weeks ago, the world mourned his passing. Fans flocked to his Paisley Park estate in Minnesota, historic building were lit purple around the globe, and First Lady Michelle Obama even rocked a purple dress to meet the Queen of England. While Prince’s fans grieved in their own separate ways, there was no public memorial held to send the star off in style–until Wednesday night in Los Angeles.
Prince’s ex-wives Manuela Testolini and Mayte Garcia joined forced to pull off a star-studded memorial in the Purple One’s honor. Celebs like Spike Lee, Mavis Staples, and Cheryl Boone Isaacs, president of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, shared remarks, while Esperanza Spalding and Janelle Monae performed.
Spike Lee, who donned Prince’s signature color from head to toe, told the crowd he’s hosting another celebration to honor the artists in Brooklyn on June 7, Prince’s birthday.
While we still can’t believe he’s gone, looks like Prince’s legacy will continue to live on.
