Prince Invites Us In With Memoir
Prince has always been draped in mystery.
In order to have the slightest understanding of who he is and what he’s about, you’d have to engross yourself with the art of his music. Sure, he’s done interviews, appeared on late night shows, gave a few words and shade tosses at award shows, but little details have come to light about the journey and inner workings of “The Purple One.”
The artist announced that he will be penning his memoir during a performance in New York City Friday night.
The work, tentatively titled, The Beautiful Ones, was created with the help of Prince’s brother, Dan.
“He’s a good critic and that’s what I need. He’s not a ‘yes’ man at all and he’s really helping me get through this,” Prince told the crowd.
Giving just a hint of how the memoir will travel, it will start with Prince’s first memory and “hopefully we can go all the way up to the Super Bowl.”
The Beautiful Ones will be published by Spiegel & Garu, an imprint of Random House with plans to debut in fall 2017.
