‘The Color Purple’ Cast and More Honor Prince!
A rainbow was illuminated over Prince’s Paisley Park home Wednesday following the sad and shocking news of his passing.
Perhaps an indication that he is indeed present in spirit. His death hit the hearts of many across the world and a gloom fell over Johnson Publishing Company’s Chicago office.
Prince. Gone? This can’t be real.
Though we know that it’s a part of life, somehow, there was a mystical and invincible allure that came with “The Baddest Man Alive” that made us want to believe he’d live forever.
And yes, tears were shed, his music blared through speakers, and thoughts and videos echoed across social media uniting “The Purple One’s” fans everywhere.
In Hollywood, tributes came straight from the stage. Following a production of The Color Purple, Jennifer Hudson, who was friends with Prince and shared the stage with him, led the theater ensemble in honoring his legacy with a tear-jerking and soul-wrenching performance of “Purple Rain.”
The cast of Hamilton ended their Wednesday night show with a lively and instrumental performance of “Go Crazy.” Watch it below.
The artist will live forever because the people will never let his legacy die.
Rest well, Prince Rogers Nelson.
