“Preachers of L.A.” Cast Opens Up

There was a time when the words “reality TV” and “church” wouldn’t even be in the same sentence. Just the mere mention of the two in one breath was enough to make a saint clutch her pearls. But nevertheless, first wives and preachers’ kids hopped on the reality TV bandwagon and put their “sanctified” lives (not so much) on blast for the world to see.

Needless to say, most of the attempts weren’t well received and made quick detours off the air. Now, Oxygen and the cast of their new show Preachers of L.A. are trying their luck and hoping to change people’s perceptions of reality TV by showing that it can be both wholesome and entertaining. was invited to Oxygen’s Preachers of L.A. luncheon in Chicago last week to hear more from the cast, including Minister Deitrick Haddon, Pastor Jay Haizlip and Bishop Ron Gibson, about what viewers can expect when the show premieres Wednesday night.

Check out the video below and see some of the stars of Preachers of L.A. speak on what they hope viewers will get out of the show, their relationship with one another and how this show manages to stray away from the bad stigma normally associated with reality TV, while keeping things interesting.

Preachers of L.A. premieres Wednesday October 9 at 10/9c on Oxygen.
