Petition: Take Back Iggy Azalea’s Billboard Award

The Billboard Music Awards have come and gone but fans are still upset at Iggy Azalea’s win.

The Australian rapper took home the award for “Top Rap Song” for her track “Fancy.”

But rap artists and fans alike are just not having it. Several took to Twitter after her win to express their disappointment over the selection. Some have gone as far to create a Change.org petition for Billboard to take the “Top Rap Song” win back from Iggy.

The petition reads:

Iggy Azalea’s 2015 Billboard Award for Best Song has been proven invalid. The eligibility time period for nominations is March 10th, 2014 through March 2015. “Fancy” was released on February 17th, 2014, nearly a month before the eligibility starting. This is unfair to the other nominees in these category, especially to “Anaconda” by Nicki Minaj, who most likely would’ve won. Billboard did not follow their own guidelines and should have to recalculate these nominations without “Fancy” as a nominee.

So far 5,165 people have signed the petition. 25,000 signatures are needed.

Wow.

What do you guys think? Is the petition shady? Or does Iggy not need to win to “Top Rap Song?” Take our poll below.
