Emmy News: Orange Is The New Black & More Get Nods

The cast of Orange is the New Black is trading in their prison jumpsuits for a more glamorous look, because they’re heading to the Emmy Awards this year with 12 nominations.

While the popular Netflix original series has been nominated for Outstanding Comedy Series, Outstanding Directing and Outstanding Writing, the Emmys has also given recognition to some standout actresses from the show. Uzo Aduba (Suzanne “Crazy Eyes” Warren) and Laverne Cox (Sophia Burset) have both been nominated for Outstanding Guest Actress in a Comedy Series. (What happened to Taystee though?)

The popular show isn’t the only favorite up for an award. Scandal’s Kerry Washington and Joe Morton could each take home a trophy, too – Washington again for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series and Morton Outstanding Guest Actor in a Drama Series.

Other heavy hitters include Cecily Tyson (The Trip to Bountiful), Idris Elba (Luther) and Chiwetel Ejiofor (Dancing on the Edge). They have all been nominated for the Outstanding Actress and Actor in a Miniseries or TV Movie award.

We’re keeping our fingers crossed! Will you be tuning in to NBC for the 66th Primetime Emmy Awards on August 25 at 8 ET?
