It looks like director Ava DuVernay‘s Civil Rights-inspired movie Selma is one step closer to being released!

Earlier this week, The Hollywood Reporter noted that Oprah Winfrey has signed on to act as a producer for the movie. Actor David Oyelowo is expected to portray Martin Luther King Jr. in the movie, which tells the story of Black marchers who walked from Selma to Montgomery in 1965 for voting rights.

The project was stalled when former director Lee Daniels of The Butler left due to financial hurdles. Brad Pitt, who co-produced 12 Years a Slave, is also onboard as a producer for the film through his production company Plan B. Other producers include Christian Coulson of Slumdog Millionaire and Pathe’s Cameron McCracken.
