One-on-One with Tiffany Evans

Tiffany Evans has come a long way since the days of her childhood when she would blow us away her powerhouse voice resting in a tiny frame. The soul singer, now 23, has added many titles to her name, including mother, designer, and CEO of her own recording company.

Never one to allow change to deter her from continuing on her journey, Evans is one of the most determined and versatile millennials in the industry today. JET caught up with her to get her take on motherhood, motivation and how she plans to engage fans with her new album.

JET: How would you describe your latest sound musically?

Tiffany Evans: It’s fun, feel-good, bold, and confident. [It’s] all about different things that I experience — good and not so good. I like to express myself through my music. I usually have a lot to say when I’m going through certain situations. It’s a therapeutic process to let everything out on a record and just grow.

JET: You’ve switched up your look a bit. How would you describe your personal style and what influences your fashion?

Tiffany Evans: I’m very spontaneous! I love switching it up, trying different colors and styles with my hair and clothing. I’m a chameleon when it comes to fashion. I always keep it funky, keep it T!

JET: What are you looking forward to with your next project, All Me?

Tiffany Evans: I know my fans have been asking for a new project, so I can’t wait for them to hear it. I’m also looking forward to performing my new material for my fans and making new fans. I’m excited about showing the world the real me! Right now, I’m finishing up All Me and I’m really proud of this body of work! I recently dropped my new single “On Sight” featuring Fetty Wap. It’s a fun record that’ll be on the EP. I’m also working on new designs and ideas for my company Eye Hunee. We’re continuing to build our fashion presence because we’re new, but it’s exciting because the response has been very positive. So stay tuned because I have a lot of great things in store!

JET: What do you do to make sure you’re constantly evolving and growing as an artist?

Tiffany Evans: I’m always open to learning. I never get to the point where I feel I can’t learn from anybody or anything — especially other artists, writers, etc. I get inspiration from greatness. When I see other people living in their greatness, it helps me to stay on my toes.

JET: In addition to being an artist, you’re also a mother! What has motherhood taught you about yourself?

Tiffany Evans: First off, being a mother is the best experience ever! Motherhood has made me realize how vulnerable I am and how it’s okay to be that way. I used to shy away from showing sensitivity because I felt that I always needed to be strong in all aspects of my life. But when I gave birth to my daughter, she opened my heart up to being free in myself.
