Ice Cube Talks Rock & Roll Hall of Fame

On Friday night in Brooklyn, N.W.A. will be inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. It’s an honor that many feel is long overdue, while some believe it’s right on time.

When it was announced the group would finally get recognized for their contributions to hip-hop culture, there was an outpour of celebration.

Would fans see the hardcore rap group hit the stage for a memorable performance? Hopes were high.

Now, according to a New York Times interview with Ice Cube, those hopes were met with a blow.

“Nah, we’re not performing. I guess we really didn’t feel like we were supported enough to do the best show we could put on,” he told the publication. “We wanted to do it on a whole other level, and that just couldn’t happen. But we’re totally honored, humbled and appreciative to the Hall for even just considering us, inducting us and inviting us.”

Whomp. Whomp!

The event takes place tonight at the Brooklyn Barclays Center and will broadcast on HBO, April 30.
