Artists including Mary J. Blige, Jazmine Sullivan, Usher and Lauryn Hill are keeping the memory of Nina Simone alive with a tribute album.
Titled Nina Revisited…A Tribute to Nina Simone, the compilation of music features a variety of singers – as well as the jazz pioneer’s daughter Lisa – covering some of the legend’s most renowned songs.
The 16-track project borrows from the voices of others, but Miss Simone closes it out with “I Wish I Knew How It Felt to Be Free.”
Released in conjunction with Liz Garbus’s documentary What Happened, Miss Simone?, now streaming on Netflix, the album will be available on July 10.
