Niecy Nash & Karrueche Tran Are Ready To Unleash Their ‘Claws’ On Their New TNT Series
Niecy Nash’s daring and wickedly funny Claws is about to tear up the small screen on TNT this summer.
The dark comedy which is being executive produced by Rashida Jones is a vibrant series set in a South Florida nail salon owned by Nash’s character, Desna.
The series follows the five manicurists who work at the Nail Artisan of Manatee County salon, and it appears that these ladies have way more going on than just gel polishes, pedicures, and nail designs. Desna’s staff includes her best friend Jennifer (Jenn Lyon), a tentatively sober ex-party girl who is raising two children, Quiet Ann (Judy Reyes) Desna’s enigmatic driver who also provides security for the salon and who has secrets of her own, Polly (Carrie Preston), a mild-mannered preppy woman who recently served time in prison for identity theft; and Virginia (Karrueche Tran), who has made being unbothered her way of life.
Still, it’s just not the manicurists at Nail Artisan that are keeping it afloat. Roller (Jack Kesy), a gangster redneck who runs a barely legal pain clinic is using Desna’s nail salon to launder his profits which are quickly getting out of hand. Dr. Ken Brickman (Jason Antoon) is part of Roller’s team and rounding out the cast is Bryce (Kevin Rankin), Jennifer’s husband who is also newly sober and trying his hardest to stay on the right side of the law.
Though no exact premiere date has been set as of yet, we do know that the 10-episode first season of Claws will air sometime this summer. TNT’s Executive Vice President of Original Programming, Sarah Aubrey said of the series, “This is a show with great storytelling featuring empowered female characters and brought to life by a diverse group of incredibly talented individuals both in front of and behind the camera.”
One this is for sure, the series certainly looks vivacious, and with Niecy Nash at the center, we doubt it can go left. Will you be tuning it?
