New Music From Deborah Cox!
Ears were on high alert when it was announced that vocal powerhouse Deborah Cox would be re-creating songs for the Angela Bassett directed, Whitney biopic that aired on Lifetime earlier this year.
The songstress has since been prepping for her sixth studio album, Work Of Art, which has an August 15 release date. In an interview with Billboard, the Canadian singer-songwriter described the body of work as “well-penned songs” with a mixture of ballads, dance tunes and up-tempo sounds.
The first single, “More Than I Knew” stays true to Lady Cox’s melodic foundation and core emotional hits such as the timeless “Nobody’s Supposed To Be Here.” The R&B ballad tells of a broken relationship where the woman now realizes that her love may have been stronger than she thought.
More than just a poised vocal delivery, Deborah Cox proves that the lyrics matter just as much as the melody.
More Than I Knew is available on iTunes.
