Nelly, Keyshia Cole Slated for BET Reality Shows

After fellow television network and competitor VH1 revealed their success in the Black community due to shows featuring Black reality stars, BET is stepping up to the plate in the reality TV realm.

Currently known for his role in the Real Husbands of Hollywood comedy show, singer Nelly will be taking his talents to the reality world.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, BET has ordered eight hour-long episodes of Nelly’s show, which will focus on “the rapper navigating his hip-hop career, fashion businessman/co-owner of the NBA’s Charlotte Bobcats and father to his biological children and his late sister’s children, all while balancing a relationship.”

Joining Nelly for BET airtime will be singer Keyshia Cole and actors David and Tamela Mann. Cole, who is not a stranger to reality TV, will have six half-hour episodes relaying the singer’s life issues such as her marriage struggles and motherhood conflicts.

The Meet The Browns stars David and Tamela Mann, known for their gospel careers, will star in a series displaying interaction with each other, their family and life in the performace industry.

With these three shows, BET is hoping to “give the audience what they’ve been looking for,” according to Senior VP of Original Programming Charlie Jordan Brookins.
