Midnight Love, the Marvin Gaye biopic following the later years of the singer’s short life, may have nabbed its star actor. Rock icon Lenny Kravitz has reportedly taken the role and will play Gaye in the film.

The biopic, directed by British filmmaker Julien Temple, will recount the life of Gaye beginning in 1981 in London, during the the recording of his final album, Midnight Love, with Columbia Records. This would be Kravitz’s first leading role on screen, following his performance in the Hunger Games as Cinna.
