A Thanksgiving day meant for family and celebration turns into two parents’ worst nightmare after their daughters go missing. When the police don’t find the girls soon enough, one of the fathers decides to take matters into his own hands. Featuring Viola Davis and Terrence Howard alongside Hugh Jackman and Jake Gyllenhaal, the parents do whatever it takes to make sure the children return safely. Hit the movie theaters Friday night to catch this crime thriller, and check out what JET’s Editor-in-Chief Mitzi Miller had to say about it.

WatsoNS Go To Birmingham


When the Watsons road trip down to Alabama from Michigan, they enter an entirely different world, where Jim Crow is in full effect. Based on the book written by Christopher Paul Thomas of the same title, the family undergo life-changing experiences that stick with them forever.  Starring Anika Noni Rose and Wood Harris, travel back in time to the ’60s during some of the most pivotal civil rights movement with this historically based film. And no need to stop by  the redbox or movie theater. The movie will premiere on the Hallmark Channel at 8 PM ET Friday night.

Star Trek Into Darkness


The science fiction series never gets old! This time around, the crew must stop someone within their own organization to save the day, but can they do it? For the twelfth installment, Zoe Saldana reprises her role as Lieutenant Nyota Uhara alongside Chris Pine as Kirk. Pick up this DVD out in stores now on the way home for a classic action flick.

Blue Caprice


Based on a true story, this film takes you back to the horrendous D.C. killing sprees of 2002 and into the minds of the criminals behind the attacks. With Isaiah Washington as John Alan Muhammad and Tequan Richmond as Lee Boyd Malvo, the actors give a riveting account of the men’s relationship and the events that lead up to the murders. Check out this film in select theaters.
