Review: “Prisoners”

It takes a whole lot for a suspense movie to actually hold an audience captive on the edge of their seats for two and a half hours.

But I’m pleased to report that “Prisoners” starring Hugh Jackman, Terrence Howard, Viola Davis and Jake Gyllenhaal definitely gets the job done.

This skillfully shot, hard hitting thriller will suck you in from the opening sequence all the way to the moment that the credits roll.  Even at that point, it will probably take a few moments for viewers to collect themselves after the non-stop plot twists and intense drama-filled scenes.

While the casting of Terrence Howard and Viola Davis as the middle-class family next door is spot on, but what will leave you breathless is  Jackman’s performance as the the distraught, type-A father slowly losing his grip after his daughter and her best friend are kidnapped.

This film is a must-see, right now.  Prisoners premieres in theaters nationwide Friday, Sept. 20.
