Misty Copeland Ties the Knot!
Prima ballerina Misty Copeland has danced into a whole new phase of her life. After 10 years with her partner, Olu Evans, the American Ballet Theatre principal dancer jumped the broom!
According to E! News, the couple wed in a “small and intimate” ceremony at the Montage Hotel in Laguna Beach, California in front of 100 of their friends and family. The ballerina reportedly wore an Inbal Dror gown and Christian Louboutin heels.
Evans, an attorney, and Copeland got engaged in August 2015, and at the time the 33-year-old told Vanity Fair she wanted to wear something “romantic and elegant” on her wedding day.
Last June, Copeland made history as the first Black woman to become a principal dancer at the American Ballet Theatre in the company’s 75 years. Since getting into the dance world, Copeland has been extremely outspoken about about the lack of diversity in the industry and her position as a role model for other young Black dancers.
In addition to her impact on the dance world, Copeland has written a best selling book, appeared on Broadway, and scored an unprecedented endorsement deal with Under Armour.
We wish the couple lots of love and joy!
