Michelle Obama to Host ‘Hidden Figures’ Screening

We’re getting closer to the limited release of Hidden Figures – one of the most anticipated films of 2016 – and the promotion has been amazing with various screenings.

The film is now getting a presidential screening at the White House and it will be hosted by none other than First Lady Michelle Obama!

As we approach the final days of the Obama administration, FLOTUS, who has already seen the film will deliver remarks during the event as she and the president are both share a keen interest toward the historical story.

Hidden Figures , based off of Margot Shetterly’s book, is set in the 1960s and tells the story of the first African-American women who worked for NASA during its formative years. The work of Katherine Johnson ( Taraji P. Henson), Dorothy Vaughn ( Octavia Spencer), and Mary Jackson (Janelle Monae) was crucial to the success of the agency’s Mercury and Apollo Missions while enduring a segregated workplace. Taraji P. Henson, Octavia Spencer and Janelle Monae along with Katherine Johnson will be in attendance for the White House screening event.

The film will premiere in select theaters on Dec. 25 and open nationwide on January 6, 2017.
