Mekhi Phifer Lands New Series Role

Mekhi Phifer is heading back to the small screen.

The New York-bred actor’s presence will soon become a weekly happening as he takes on the role of Lt. Satch DeLeon in CW’s “Frequency” pilot—a reboot of the 2002 feature film.

The reboot centers on a female police detective in modern day who discovers her ability to speak via a ham radio with her estranged father, who passed in 1996. Together, the father-daughter duo work on an unsolved murder case, but unexpected consequences of the “butterfly effect” wreak havoc in the present day.

In his veteran police role, Phifer becomes a surrogate father to the female lead after her father’s death.

Casting is still in progress.
