Mary J. Blige Hit with Spousal Support Suit
This divorce is not going over smoothly. After Mary J. Blige filed for divorce from her husband and former manager, Martin “Kendu” Isaacs, she dropped a banging single, “Thick of It”, which detailed a relationship at its breaking point.
On the heels of the single and as she gears up to release a new album, her ex-beau has filed for temporary spousal support.
According to TMZ, Isaacs is asking for $129,319/month. Mary was the breadwinner of the 12-year marriage and since firing her estranged husband, he has been without income.
In the suit, he claims that Mary earned between $1.5 to $5.1 million over the last two years, is currently on tour, and also points out that she is about to drop a new album – which is sure to generate revenue.
But what about the prenup?
Well, Mary says it’s solid as a rock. However, Isaacs’ lawyer is calling foul on the prenup, stating that it is “immensely invalid, unenforceable and unconscionable.”
It seems that Mary is ready to move on, so hopefully, the divorce proceedings don’t get too ugly and all parties can go forth in peace.
