This Lupita Nyong’o Clapback Was Perfect
Lupita Nyong’o showed up to the Met Gala on Monday night and slayed the red carpet. Dressed in a whimsical jade-colored gown that included a flowing train, the Oscar-winner stopped the show with her regal hair.

The gravity-defying style stretched high above Nyongo’s head, paying serious tribute to the sisters of the African diaspora and the Afrofuturism movement. While the inspiration for Nyong’o’s ‘do seemed pretty clear, apparently Vogue didn’t get the memo.
Despite Nyong’o telling the man Nina Simone was one of her inspirations for the look, the fashion mag wondered if the Kenyan beauty was channeling Audrey Hepburn.
Thankfully, Nyong’o set the record straight about her real inspiration in a short Instagram video which featured her Met Gala look alongside some gorgeous African women.
Give it to ’em Queen Lupita!
