Louis Vuitton Interprets Ali’s ‘Float’ Through Hip-Hop
By// Chandler Rollins
Louis Vuitton teamed up with cinematographer Stuart McIntyre to launch a campaign around their collaboration with Muhammed Ali. Louis Vuitton’s website states the idea behind the campaign is to showcase “the journey of a man who stood up for the ideals he believed in, a man whose victories but also defeats left a mark on the world, a man whose incisive words reached billions and still echo today.”
The actual campaign features a series of videos, starring Yasiin Bey, who recites Muhammed Ali’s signature pre-fight speeches.
The fourth installment of the campaign was released this week. Float, narrated by lyricist Yaslin Bey (formerly known as Mos Def) and calligrapher Niels Show Meulman, is visually stunning.
