Could LeBron James Star in ‘Space Jam 2’?

If you’re a 90s kid, Space Jam definitely held a spot on your shelf of VHS tapes. Get ready to return to the animated hoop town, with LeBron James as the star player in a possible remake.

Last month, Warner Brothers filed the forms to renew the trademarks for the 1996 classic, and on Wednesday, the television and film company announced that it had embarked on an “unprecedented” creative partnership with the athlete.

The details of the new deal are unclear, but all signs point to Looney Tunes land. James hinted at the likelihood of it last year.

Time quoted him in a South Florida Sun Sentinel article saying, “I’ve always loved Space Jam. It was one of my favorite movies growing up. If I have the opportunity, it will be great.”

This wouldn’t be the Cleveland Cavaliers’ player’s first time on the big screen. He recently appeared in Trainwreck, which is in theaters now.

No word yet on if the 30-year-old will indeed take the lead role in the revamp, or if Space Jam 2 will even happen.
