Lauryn Hill Honored with ASCAP Award

Grammy award-winning singer-songwriter Lauryn Hill will be presented with ASCAP’s prestigious Golden Note Award at this year’s ceremony, Billboard reports.

Hill will join a host of talented past Golden Note recipients, including Pharrell Williams, Dr. Dre, Alicia Keys and Stevie Wonder.

The “Doo-Wop (That Thing)” musician will also perform at the invitation-only event, which takes place on June 25 at the Beverly Wilshire Hotel in Los Angeles.

In a statement, ASCAP president Paul Williams cited Hill’s “ability to push boundaries and capture the humanity that surrounds us.” He added that “Ms. Hill’s talent as a songwriter is undeniable and reflects her singular take on the world we live in.”
