Laura Harrier Is About To Capture Peter Parker’s Heart In ‘Spider-Man Homecoming’

Zendaya isn’t the only Black actress who is ready to slay in Spider-Man: Homecoming, Laura Harrier’s Liz Allan is coming for Peter Parker’s heart.

In Spider-Man: Homecoming we meet a teenage Peter Parker (Tom Holland) who is trying to embrace his newfound identity as Spider-Man while dealing with the trials and tribulations of high school. It doesn’t help that he has to keep his alter-ego a secret while desperately trying to impress his new mentor Tony Stark aka Iron Man. So where does Harrier’s Liz Allan come in?

If you’re a fan of Marvel comics, then you recognize Liz as the girl Peter Parker harbored a massive crush on during his high school years. However, the mega-popular Liz was dating Flash Thompson, leaving Peter to pine after her. We don’t know if Peter will stand a chance with Liz in this film, but it’s going to be great to see him try.

In her breakout role, 27-year old Laura Harrier is about to step into Liz’s shoes. Previously, she starred on the short-lived revamp of the soap opera, One Life To Live. Though this is super exciting news, the media is already mixing Harrier and Zendaya up. (Apparently, two young Black actresses can’t star in the same film without being confused for one another.)

In Spider-Man: Homecoming, Zendaya’s Michelle is Peter’s super awkward but extremely intelligent friend. She is not at all Laura Harrier’s bad and boujee Liz. However, their dissimilar roles haven’t stopped the mix-ups. Though a high-profile mix-up has yet to occur, the actresses are already being mislabeled in the papers.

Spider-Man: Homecoming has done a great job of diversifying its cast. Let’s just hope we don’t have another “Hidden Fences” on our hands.
