Kanye West Settles Lawsuit

Remember that video of Kanye attacking a member of the paparazzi at a LAX in 2013? Well it turns out that the rapper and fashion designer has settled a lawsuit with the paparrazzo.

West, settled for an undisclosed amount with photographer Daniel Ramos a week before the case was scheduled for trial.

In 2013, Ramos was waiting outside Los Angeles international airport with a group of colleagues. When West came through the terminal, he shouted “Kanye, why can’t we talk to you?,” according to his lawyer. West then tried to wrestle his camera out of his hands.

‘This case sent an important message,” Ramos’ lawyer Gloria Allred said. “Celebrities are not above the law, and they have no right to physically attack someone simply because they were asked a question.”

Ramos fell to the ground and injured his right hip as a result of the incident. West was hit with a lawsuit alleging assault, battery, negligence and interference with Ramos’ civil rights.

Kanye was involved in a similar incident last March. He was charged with a misdemeanor count of battery against a photographer. His lawyer entered a no contest plea, and West was sentenced to two years’ probation, 24 anger management sessions and 250 hours of community service. He also had to pay restitution to the victim.

West has since apologized to Ramos. An image of the two reconciling was provided by his lawyer.
