Kanye Leaves Oxford Wanting More
Kanye West just dropped all sorts of Kanye-isms on Oxford University Tuesday. The self-proclaimed Yeezus blessed a packed hall of 350 students with his presence at the storied England house of higher learning, dropping a stream of conscious flow that produced quotable quote after quotable quote. Knowledge! ‘Ye took them to school.
What did he serve up? Nothing but realness.
The Matrix? For ‘Ye, that’s “the Bible.” Um, OK. Sure, why not!
Art? He could have been Picasso if he’d wanted to. Go big or go home!
Award shows? “I was joking with an interviewer earlier today…people talk about the number of viewers the Brits get, or the number of viewers the Grammys get. They need to do award shows for the Nobel Peace Prize, but I guess that doesn’t sell as many MasterCard commercials.” True. True.
What are we? “We’re all creatives here, we’re all born artists.” Art is universal, ya’ll.
Quoting scripture? Ye’ sez: “No weapon formed against me shall prosper.” So don’t try it with the polymath. He’s not playing!
Favorite person? Steve Jobs.
Name dropping? His favorite artist is Vanessa Beecroft. She bought his daughter some toys.
Time? “Time is the only luxury.” And knowing to always go out on top, ‘Ye left the audience wanting more, reportedly shouting “Nooo” as he abruptly ended the talk with a succinct “That’s all.”
Word. In that spirit, I’m not going to spend any more time on this. But if you want to bask in the greatness, you can check out the entire Yeezy opus HERE.
