Jordan Davis Documentary To Premiere on HBO

Marc Silver’s “3 1/2 Minutes” documentary struck an emotional chord with audiences during its Sundance Film Festival debut.

The film chronicles the Florida murder of Jordan Davis, an unarmed 17-year-old shot by Michael Dunn, a White man, in a gas station parking lot. Dunn was found guilty and convicted of three counts attempted second-degree murder (he also fired on three of Davis’ friends) and one count of firing into a vehicle.

More than just re-telling the devastating story, the filmmaker explores the events following the shooting and assesses the American criminal justice system.

That story will now make its premiere on HBO, June 19.

HBO Documentary Films president, Sheila Nivens said:

I am grieved that these continuing stories are everyday matters swept away. By bringing this powerful film to HBO audiences, we hope to elevate the national conversation around these tragic issues.

Hopefully, the film will broaden conversation to plans of action.
