Jesse Williams Teams Up With LeBron James
We already know Grey’s Anatomy star Jessie Williams has a lot to say about issues of race and culture. The actor and activist lit up TV screens–and the Internet–during his acceptance speech at this year’s BET Awards. On any given day, Williams can be found sharing his thoughts to his 1.6 million Twitter followers, and now he’s taking his message straight to people’s ears.
Williams and writer Stefan Marolachakis relaunched their sports and culture podcast, Open Run, and this time the pair are teaming up with basketball superstar LeBron James. The show will run on James’ digital platform, the Uninterrupted, and the NBA champ was the show’s first guest.
During the unfiltered chat, James talked with Williams and Marolachakis about a wide variety of topics, including his teammate J.R. Smith, his favorite musical artists, and why the NBA star has chosen to be vocal about the need to protect and advocate for Black lives.
James’ business partner, Maverick Carter, said the partnership between Open Run and the Uninterrupted was an easy fit.
“Open Run is the natural next step in the growth of the Uninterrupted network because it gives athletes another platform to go even deeper with their stories and address important topics they may have shied away from before,” he explained. “This podcast allowed athletes and other influential figures to share their voice and have those meaningful conversations while giving fans even greater insight into their lives beyond sports.”
