Jay Z to Produce NBC Drama Series
Jay Z has definitely stepped into the arena of content creation with a vision to bring real stories to the forefront.
After announcing his partnership with Spike TV and Weinstein Television to bring the tragic story of Kaleif Bowder to the masses in a six-episode series, it looks like his next move involves a series on NBC that centers on the first African American sniper.
According to Page Six, Jay Z will produce a drama about Nicholas Irving who served as a special ops sniper in his battalion, and the US Army 3rd Ranger Battalion’s deadliest sniper. The alleged six-hour miniseries is based on Irving’s 2015 memoir, The Reaper: Autobiography of One of the Deadliest Special Ops Snipers.
The rights to the book were acquired by The Weinstein Company, who also just locked in a first look deal with Jay Z.
In addition to bringing these intriguing stories to the screen, Jay is also in collaboration with Will Smith to produce a miniseries about Emmett Till, which will premiere on HBO.
We’ll keep our eyes glued to this for further developments.
