Idris Elba Gets Personal

Idris Elba may not be taking on the role of James Bond anytime soon, but the British actor is offering something even better…Him!

In a sense.

The multidimensional actor is producing an autobiographical documentary that takes the audience on a journey through his life, relationships, the loss of his father and the preparation it took when filming Mandela: Long Walk To Freedom.

During an interview with MIPTV (the most-established TV and digital content market), Elba shared that Mandela, My Dad and Me was initially intended to be a movie about an album. However, upon his return from South Africa, he discovered that there was more to the story.

“It was about my emotional journey. I had just lost my father, so it became about my loss.”

The 60-minute film will be directed by Daniel Vernon and distributed via Idris Elba’s Green Door Pictures Production company.

Now the sad part.

We’ll have to wait as no release date has been revealed yet for America. London gets first dibs with a limited theatrical screening.
