Chris Rock, Martin Lawrence, Arsenio Hall and Tracy Morgan will perform on stage in a televised tribute to Eddie Murphy. EBONY reports that the Spike TV special Eddie Murphy: One Night Only will air on November 14, and marks 30 years since Eddie Murphy’s debut films, 48 Hrs and Delirious were released.
The performances will pay homage to the record-breaking concert film Raw and his time as a cast member on Saturday Night Live.
“Thirty years ago, Eddie Murphy came on to the comedy scene and changed the game forever,” Casey Patterson, Executive Vice President of Event Production, Talen Development & Studio Relations at Viacom Entertainment Group, said in a statement.
“We’re thrilled to be honoring him for the very first time, ‘One Night Only.’”
Other guests include Jamie Foxx, Adam Sandler, Samuel L. Jackson and Keenan Ivory Wayans. The Roots will be providing the music for the event.
