Ladies Who Rock the Mic … Together!

I reminisce for a spell….

There’s nothing like seeing a classic collaboration over a dope beat or chill vibe come to life on stage. And when females are involved, it debunks the mass talk of frenemies and the ideal that “women can’t work together.”

In fact, they can and the unions can stand strong over the years, as we’ve witnessed with the BET Hip Hop awards performance that had everyone anticipating the 20-year celebration of Brandy’s “I Wanna Be Down” remix featuring rappers MC Lyte, Yo-Yo and Queen Latifah.

As we approach the 2014 Soul Train Awards and the performance mill has spilled news about a reunion with hip-hop heavyweights Missy Elliott, Lil’ Kim and Da Brat for the “Ladies Night” remix, it’s only right to send a salute to other female collaborations that have rocked the charts and the stage.

Ladies’ Night: Lil’ Kim, Angie Martinez, Lefteye, Da Brat, and Missy Elliott.

It’s pretty much an automatic hit when you add Missy to the equation. Then you blend the lyrical prowess of Da Brat, gutta flow of Lil’ Kim, an intro from radio’s top personality Angie Martinez, and the baby doll, but unique flow of Lisa “Left Eye” Lopes…your summer is blazed and the energy is undeniable.

On top of the collab already leaving fans in awe with the studio recording, the live performance showed vocal excellence. Man, this was a good feeling.
