What’s Good? Here’s What We Love That’s Headed To Netflix In April!

The folks at Netflix sure don’t rest well on their laurels…They’re switching it up again.

As we come to the end of March, the wildly popular streaming service is going to add some new titles to their library and purge some others. For fans of Baz Luhrmann’s musically driven drama, The Get Down, this is particularly good news since the long-awaited second half of season one is finally going to hit Netflix on April 7th. Still, the ’70s set drama isn’t the only thing we have to look forward to next month.

Based on his 2014 critically acclaimed film, director Justin Simien is debuting his series, Dear White People which follows Black students at a predominantly white university as they struggle with microaggressions and identity particularly in the aftermath of a Black face themed fraternity party. Also, though it’s been well under the radar until now, it looks like legendary director Spike Lee has a new joint debuting near the end of the month. His Netflix Original film, Rodney King, will give voice to the man who was at the center of the brutal police beating that fueled the 1992 Los Angeles riots. Both Dear White People and Rodney King are set to debut on April 28th.

For those who want some lighter fare as we head into spring, Michaela Coel’s hilarious and acclaimed British series Chewing Gum will be making its miraculous return for season two on April 4th. Meanwhile, Kevin Hart’s 2016 stand-up special What Now? will drop Tuesday, April 11th. Finally, Disney fans will be pleased to see Lupita Nyong’o and David Oyelowo’s The Queen of Katwe hitting their lists April 25th.

Aside from these standout titles, there is a lot more headed to Netflix next month. Be sure to scroll until the end to see the complete list of films and TV series that are headed our way.
