He Said, She Said With Cedric And Niecy

soulmanlast2Cedric the Entertainer and Niecy Nash, stars of TV Land’s The Soul Man, dish out advice on meeting parents, first date suggestions and more.

———————————————–

How long should you stay in a relationship with someone who has goals and aspirations, but no job?

Cedric: Three months and two days. Look, there’s no set time limit, but TLC said it best—you don’t want no scrubs. So you need to figure out how realistic these goals are and decide if you’re willing to stick around until they’re achieved. Otherwise, tell them to get to step it up, or get to steppin’.

What’s the right amount of time before someone should meet your parents?

C: A simple formula four weeks plus how serious you are times the level of crazy your parents are. If your dad is like David Alan Grier’s character in “Peeples,” hold off as long as you can. And you definitely don’t need to introduce your parents to your hook-ups and booty calls. But if you’re considering a long-term commitment you’ll have to do it eventually. My advice? Delay as long as possible—who needs that stress?

What is the best way to let your wife know that you don’t like her new hairstyle without hurting her feelings?

Niecy: Encourage the look you like more than commenting on the one you don’t. Being complimentary can go a little bit further. Hopefully you’re in a relationship where you can be honest with each other and you should never ask a question that you can’t handle the answer to.

What  are some first date suggestions other than dinner and a movie?

N: If you’ve never met I suggest a phone date. If you’re conversation isn’t enough to make me want to talk to you again I can find that out in my sweatpants with my scarf on my head instead of driving across town.
