Happy Canada Day

By//Najja Parker

Many of us skipped celebrating Canada Day and are instead are looking forward to the 4th, but I bet a couple of your favorite celebrities did it up on July 1. Check out our list of entertainers that hail from our North American neighbors.

Drake Canada

Drake – Toronto, Canada

“Hardly home but always reppin”

Drake announced the release date for his third album, Nothing was the Same, last month. When it drops Sept. 17, you’ll likely hear a Canada shout out if you listen close enough.

Melanie Fiona Canada

Melanie Fiona – Toronto, Canada

When Fiona isn’t working on her own album, you can catch her in her Toronto fitted remixing her neighbor’s Started from the Bottom single.

Rick Fox Canada

Rick Fox – Toronto, Canada

Although Fox only lived in Canada for the first nine months of his life, he still shows love. He posted a picture collage of his days in Canada on his website. Watch the Canadian born actor weekly on BET’s The Game and VH1’s Hit the Floor.

Tamia Canada

Tamia – Ontario, Canada

Tamia received a Grammy nod earlier this year when she belted out the ballads from her fifth studio album Beautiful Surprise. She can belt out Canada’s national anthem too. She performed the ode during NBA All-Star weekend back in 2009.

Deborah Cox Canada

Deborah Cox – Toronto, Canada

“How Did You Get Here” is one of our favorite songs to try to sing – emphasis on try. Cox left Canada to further pursue her singing and acting career. The songstress just wrapped her Broadway run as Constantine Maroulis in Jekyll & Hyde in May.
