‘Hamilton’ Star Daveed Diggs Lands Film Role
Hamilton on Broadway has received the highest praise from President Obama and First Lady Michelle in addition to swiping Tony Awards and critic applause.
Now, one of its biggest stars is heading to the big screen for his debut feature film role.
Daveed Diggs, who pulled off two amazing characters on stage as Marquis de Lafayette and Thomas Jefferson and received a Tony Award for Best Supporting Actor in a Musical will be co-starring in the Stephen Chbosky-directed drama, Wonder.
The film is adapted from R.J. Palacio’s book of the same name and focuses on a boy with a facial deformity which has prevented him from attending traditional schools. But, things turn around once he enters the fifth grade and thanks to the persistence of his parents, gets accepted by a new school.
As of now, there’s no full description as to what role Diggs will take on, but he’s recently shown his range as an actor while taking up a reoccurring role on ABC’s hit show, blackish.
In addition to his upcoming film work, Diggs, can be seen in the Netflix original series, The Get Down and is currently developing a comedy series pilot for ABC that centers on a former rapper-turned-mayor of a large urban city.
Diggs is out here working! Congrats.
