Grandmaster Flash Joins The Get Down

Hip-hop legend, Grandmaster Flash, will serve as an associate producer and advisor on a new Netflix original series, The Get Down.

Grandmaster Flash, along with the Furious Five was an influential hip hop group formed in the South Bronx of New York City in 1978.

Netflix original series, The Get Down, centers around 1970s New York City. The Get Down is a saga of how New York at the brink of bankruptcy gave birth to hip-hop, punk and disco. The film is told through the lives and music of the South Bronx kids who changed the city and the world forever.

Other cast members include Justice Smith (“Ezekiel”), Shameik Moore (“Shaolin Fantastic”), Skylan Brooks (“Ra Ra”), Herizen Guardiola (“Mylene Cruz”) and Tremaine Brown, Jr. (“Boo Boo”).

The 13-episode series will debut in 2016.
